Welcome home to Blacklick, Ohio Blacklick HistoryBlacklick, Ohio is a small, unincorporated town in Jefferson Township on the far east side of Franklin County. Named for H.G. Black, an early settler, he also gave his name to the nearby creek or “lick”, named Blacklick Creek. The creek runs through the town and the nearby Metro Park as well. This area was a rural farm community for nearly 100 years, but the completion of I-270 brought developers looking for land to build residential housing, and the rolling hills of Blacklick were exactly what they were seeking. The downtown area features several restaurants, local shopping, churches, and offices in the small commercial district. It’s the perfect small-town bedroom community for those who crave a small, friendly haven with a rural feel. Today, there are homes ranging from vintage farmhouses, established neighborhoods with fully grown trees, and new builds are going up as well if you are interested in customizing your home. Education in BlacklickBecause it’s unincorporated, Blacklick has no school district of its own, but is served by the five nearest districts: Columbus City Schools, Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools, Licking Heights Local Schools, New Albany-Plain Local Schools, and Reynoldsburg City Schools. Your REALTOR can tell you which homes are served by which school district. Blacklick AmenitiesThe community is fortunate to include one of the Columbus Metro Parks, Blacklick Woods. The park offers a small golf course, a beech-maple forest, a buttonbush swamp, walking trails, a nature center, picnic areas and sledding hills. Olde Quarry Park is also nearby, offering 20 acres that includes trail access to Blacklick Creek, shelter house, picnic areas, walking trails, and bank fishing (large-mouth bass are biting).
