Luciana Barroso, Matt Damon's wife, was born in Argentina on July 31, 1976.

She was previously married to fellow Argentinian Arbello Barroso, and they share one child.

Barroso has three children with Damon - Isabella, Stella, and Gia.

Damon talked about his personal life and his marriage during an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021.

“The media gave up on me because I was so boring," he said, according to Deadline.

"What sells magazines is sex and scandal.

"Everybody knows I’m married and a dad, and relatively free of scandal, it’s not worth their money to sit outside my house.

They also know I’ll wait them out."

Damon met his wife while shooting a movie in Miami in 2003.

“I was working as a bartender in South Beach (Miami) and he was shooting a movie there and the crew ended up in the bar one Saturday night,” Barroso told Vogue Australia in 2018.

“Matt’s story is that he saw me across the room and there was a light on me. And I’m like: ‘Yeah it was a nightclub - there were lights everywhere!’”

She added: “We definitely had a connection right away, it was so easy to talk to each other we were very comfortable [with each other], and by the end of the night he invited me to go out with his friends.

"But I was like: ‘I can’t, I have a four-year-old daughter, I’m not going anywhere’… and that was one of the things he loved, that I had a daughter.

"He said: ‘I love that you’re a mum and that’s your priority.’"

Aside from being one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors, Matt Damon also takes pride in being a great dad. Over the years, the Jason Bourne star has made us fall in love with his handsome looks and incredible charm, but nowadays, Matt melts our hearts thanks to his sweet bond with his kids.

The Martian actor is the father of his four daughters, Alexia, Isabella, Gia and Stella, with his longtime wife, Luciana Barroso. Matt experienced fatherhood for the first time when he married the Argentina native in 2005, as he adopted her eldest daughter, Alexia, whom she shares with ex-husband Arbello Barroso. The couple then welcomed their own children together, Isabella, Gia and Stella.

Fatherhood has taught Matt a lot about raising kids, but he’s learned more than he ever imagined as the dad of four daughters. During an interview with Today in 2012, the Good Will Hunting alum said he “never expected to be surrounded” by so many women.

“But it’s great … you never know which way life’s going to take you,” he gushed. “I’m learning so much, not the least of which is how much smarter girls are. I operated under the assumption that us guys had a chance, but I realized when I was completely wrapped around [Stella’s] finger, and she knew it. If they can do that to us [at a young age], when they’re fully grown, we really don’t stand a chance.”

Looking back on his life with his kiddos, Matt compared parenthood to the grumpy character in The Grinch Who Stole Christmas — but in a good way, of course. “In the end when his heart grows five sizes, that’s what [becoming a father] felt like,” he told Today. “It was like everything expanded in a way that I didn’t know was possible. And it was instant.”

It’s pretty obvious that Matt is willing to prioritize his family over everything else in his life, including his Hollywood career. The Oscar winner said he’s managed to juggle his work as an actor and his fatherhood responsibilities because he and Luciana have one important guideline they live by.

“We have a two-week rule in our family, that we’re not apart for more than two weeks,” he said on CBS Sunday Morning in July, noting his latest project, Stillwater, “was the first movie” he was away for more than 14 days. Because being apart from his family was “really tough,” Matt said their rule is “firmly reestablished.” He added, “It’s off the table. We’re never breaking it again.”

Finding true love seems impossible in Hollywood, but not for Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso. The longtime lovebirds have been married since 2005 and together, they created one beautiful family.

The Good Will Hunting actor is very private when it comes to his life with Luciana, but he once revealed the story of how they met. While stopping by The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2011, Matt said he happened to cross paths with Lucy at a bar in Miami at the time he was filming Stuck on You in 2003.

“We were supposed to shoot in Hawaii, and then the movie got moved to Miami … I had never really hung out in Miami,” he explained, noting their chance encounter was especially unbelievable considering he didn’t even want to go out that night. Luckily, a crew member dragged him to the bar.

“I literally saw her across a crowded room,” he continued, noting Lucy was working as a bartender at the time. “Eight years and four kids later, that’s my life. I don’t know how else our paths would’ve crossed if that didn’t happen.”

Prior to meeting the Jason Bourne alum, Lucy lived in Argentina. The brunette beauty was raised primarily by her Italian grandparents after her mom and dad divorced, according to The Net Line. While there’s little known about Lucy’s life before meeting Matt or when she moved to Miami, we do know she was previously married to ex-husband Arbello Barroso.

Star reported Lucy’s divorce from Arbello was finalized in December 2004. Before going their separate ways, however, the TV personality welcomed their daughter, Alexia, in 1999.

Following her split from Arbello, Luciana and Matt tied the knot in 2005. After Matt adopted Alexia, the couple expanded their brood when daughter Isabella arrived in 2006, followed by Gia in 2008, and Stella in 2010.

Matt may have become one of Hollywood’s most iconic stars throughout the last few decades, but he and Luciana have never allowed the glitz and glamour to get between their family. In fact, the Academy Award winner believes it’s a blessing that he “fell in love with a civilian.”

“I got lucky. Not an actress and not a famous actress at that. Because then the attention doesn’t double — it grows exponentially,” he told Esquire in July 2013. “But I don’t really give them anything … they can try to stake me out, but they’re always going to get the same story — middle-aged married guy with four kids.”

The couple renewed their vows during an over-the-top ceremony at a luxury hotel in Saint Lucia in 2013. Luciana and Matt were joined by famous friends like Emily Blunt, Ben Affleck and Jimmy Kimmel, among many more.

“This isn’t a ‘Hollywood’ wedding. Matt wanted it to be fun, happy and private,” a source told Us Weekly of the vow renewals. “He felt like Luciana deserves this, first and foremost. They’ve wanted to do it for a long time. They had a tiny ceremony the first time [in 2005], and wanted to celebrate with family and friends.”

Considering Matt treats Luciana’s eldest daughter Alexia “like she is his own flesh and blood,” the doting mom feels lucky to have Matt in her life. “I couldn’t possibly have asked for a better stepfather for my daughter than Matt,” she once gushed to Star magazine. “Matt has been an absolute blessing for my daughter.”

In addition to the touching tattoo he has in honor of his children, the actor revealed he and his spouse also have matching ink. Speaking with GQ for the magazine’s October 2021 cover story, Matt recalled what led to the decision for the pair to get the tattoo, which was inspired by late star Heath Ledger.

“She just announced it … we were in our apartment in Manhattan, and she was, like, ‘We’re getting tattoos.’ I was, ‘OK,'” he shared, explaining why they specifically went to celebrity tattoo artist Scott Campbell. “There is a friend of ours who did all of Heath Ledger’s tattoos … and I told him if I ever got a tattoo, he was my first phone call.”

The Departed alum said they were inspired to ink their bodies with the special design after seeing a sketch Heath once created on the artist’s computer. “I just wanted to get something that Heath had,” he remembered. “Scott showed me his laptop and I said, ‘Scott, what’s that one?’ And he goes ‘I have no idea — I think that’s just some s—t that Heath squiggled.’ And I went, ‘That’s the one I want.'”

While Matt got tattooed on his arm, he said Lucy got inked on her foot. “So we both have that,” he gushed. “It’s like a little creative little blessing. It’s like an angel that looks over all these names that are on the arm.”
