These are actually formatting marks, such as dots (for spaces) or arrows (for tab characters) in Outlook. Formatting marks assist with text layout. They do not appear on a printed message. You can customize which formatting marks are shown in Outlook by opening a new email message.
You can find all the tab stop types by clicking the tab selector in the corner between the horizontal and vertical rulers. When the tab stop that you want appears, click the location on the ruler where you want to place the tab stop. Which type of tab stop should you use?
