the x coordinate is given as

X = m1x1 + m2x2 / (m1 + m2)

here,

m1 = 0.5 kg

m2 = 1 kg

x1 = -1

x2 = 3

so, we have

X = [(0.5 × -1) + (1 × 3)] / [0.5 + 1]

 = (-0.5 + 3) / 1.5

so,

X = 1.66

and similarly

the y coordinate is given as

Y = m1y1 + m2y2 / (m1 + m2)

here,

y1 = 2

y2 = 4

so, we have

Y = [(0.5 × 2) + (1 × 4)] / [0.5 + 1]

 = (1 + 4) / 1.5

so,

Y = 3.33

thus, the coordinates of center of mass will be

(X,Y) = (1.66, 3.33)
