Im weiße rössl am wolfgangsee film mit peter alexander

A great example of cinematic

A great film which I love to see over and over again. It trumps with great actors, a nice scenery and beautiful songs. Some may think them to be out of date but if you give this film a chance - by not expecting a film where violence and sex scenes alternate, but good, solid acting and great songs - you won't be disappointed. Of course, it is slight fare but it doesn't pretend otherwise and provides good entertainment. It is always nice to see films with Peter Alexander, Waltraut Haas and Gunter Philipp (etc); the quality in acting is great. One can't help but like these actors and believe what the stories they're 'telling'.

Personally, I can't resist the voice of Peter Alexander and love his songs.

When people talk about "the film" then it can only be the first White Horse film from the 1960s!

This film should be part of every home. The light carelessness of the world-famous White Horse melodies, combined with the innocent humour and the great acting skills from Waltraud Haas, Gunther Phillipp or Peter Alexander warm hearts and put a smile on everyone's faces.

The film is just as closely linked to Lake Wolfgang as the operetta. We have compiled some interesting facts and anecdotes around the film's development.

The film was shot on the original locations on the Austrian Lake Wolfgang. This film version is based on the operetta by Ralph Benatzky from the 1930s, but introduced some changes. The story was set in the present, which made it possible for Sigismund Sülzheimer to arrive at White Horse Inn by helicopter. Ottilie Giesecke was renamed to Brigitte. And finally the music was arranged with modern swing and popular music elements by Heinz Gietz.

The outdoor scenes were shot in the summer of 1960 on the original locations in St. Wolfgang, all the indoor scenes were shot in Bad Ischl the following autumn. Some of the scenes were filmed in the Berglandfilm production ateliers in Vienna. Because there was no helicopter for filming available in Austria, a German helicopter had to be dismantled, due to the border regulations, and brought to Austria on a lorry, where it was later reassembled.

"The 1960 film is without a doubt the most famous of the three films that were shot here and like the other two, from 1935 and 2013, it is constantly shown on our hotel channel", tells White Horse landlady Gudrun Peter. How much more she and the team at White Horse Inn have to tell you about the backgrounds, find it out during your next stay - come in and forget your worries!
