Rearview Mirror Loose We purchased a 2010 Expedition (XLT) for my wife a few months back and from day one, the rearview mirror has been loose enough to make the entire mirror shake. It's so bad that I barely glance at it going down the road and rely more on the side mirrors, which are very much clearer. It appears that it is loose in the ball socket (where the short arm from the mirror attaches to the windshield mount). Does anyone know how I can fix this? I had the same problem on my 2010 EL. Ford replaced the whole thing under warranty.

UPDATE In case anyone else runs into this problem. I took it to the dealer (the wife said get it fixed NOW) and from the comments on the work order, "the mirror stem was not fully engaged in the ball socket". Now the mirror is rock solid ($35 total paid).

Rear view mirror is loose I had my windshield replaced and now my rear view mirror is loose where it attaches to the wind shield. I don't see a set screw anywhere on it, is there any way to tighten it so it won't bounce around on every bump in the road i hit? It is an auto dimming mirror if that makes any difference. thanks

call your the people that installed the glass the mirror is just slides down and the installer did not seat the mirror properly on the bracket, when i change them out like that i have a long center punch and with very light tapping from a small hammer i tap it down till i feel that it seats itself on the bracket however if you do it your self and break the glass you will pay again so just call them and let them handle it
