Sticks can be obtained as a “junk” item while fishing.

Mob loot[]

Witches have a chance of dropping 0–6 sticks upon death. This is increased by 3 per level of Looting, for a chance of 0-15 sticks.

Block loot[]

Dead bushes drop between 0–2 sticks when destroyed.

Leaves have a 2% chance [more information needed] to drop between 1-2 sticks when broken. Using a tool with Fortune can improve those chances up to 3.3%.

Novice-level fletcher villagers have a 2⁄3 chance to buy 32 sticks for an emerald in Java Edition, and they always offer the trade in Bedrock Edition.
