Why wont my nintendo switch connect to my hotspot

Dunno if it's switch or iPhone doing it. But one thing you can try is reset network settings on the iPhone.

Has fixed some bizarre things in the past.

Switch both devices off then on again?

It's such a pain in the back. I connect my Switch to my iPhone and even though they're side by side and my Switch detects the network, it simply won't connect. It will have difficulties to connect even with a regular wifi connexion.

I was having the exact same issues a few days ago and never got it fixed.

switch's wifi card is GARBAGE
lately the only way i can use my phone data for switch is connecting my phone to my macbook with USB and then sharing the connection with my laptop's wifi. a goddam mess...

What wireless and security protocol is your wireless hotspot using? (802.11N/AC/AX? WPA3/2?)

I would suggest updating your iPhone to the latest version first, then when setting up a hotspot, make sure it uses a secure protocol like WPA2. Don’t use WPA3 for now as I’m not sure the Switch recognizes this wireless security protocol yet.

Also I know the Switch recognizes 802.11AC, but not sure about AX.

I always have to reset the phone, then the Switch, then set the phone to airplane mode, then turn off hotspot, then turn on hotspot, then reset the Switch again.

Have you turned on the 4G mobile data on your phone after starting the hotspot? Might seem like a dumb suggestion, but it worked for me.

I have the same issue. I don’t think it’s a problem with the switch as my work (Windows) laptop has the same issue connecting to it.

my Apple devices don’t have any issues connecting to it.

This used to work on my Switch as well, but something in iOS13 broke it and I never got it to work since.

It has been an issue with iOS13, hopefully will be solved soon. It got a bit better with the latest update though but still doesn't work most of the time.

EDIT: original problem solved, Switch inexplicably will connect with my MacBook via internet sharing when I tether it to my iPhone via usb. New problem: Sakurai doesn’t want me to play smash online with this method. Every matchmaking attempt times out and gives an error that it couldn’t connect to the other player (Old problem below) Hey Era I searched and didn’t see anything on this. I used to be able to get my Switch connect to my iPhone 7’s Personal 4G Hotspot. Now I have an iPhone 8 plus running IOS 13.1.3 and it just straight up refuses to connect, I keep getting this error:

This is strange because I can see the blue bar at the top of my iPhone popping up briefly to indicate that it has an active connection, but then it just disappears and I get this error. Before you ask, no I don’t have the wrong PW I’ve changed it a few times in the last day trying to get this to connect again. Anyone had any trouble with this on IOS specifically?
