A dude came along and curb stomped them like a boss, and in doing so scattered them across the world. Realizing that they were still noobs, they decided to go to ground and train for awhile to toughen up before getting back together and making themselves a big target.

My previous post was taken down, so I repost this again.

I randomly read an old chapter, and then found this interesting panel after Arlong Park fight. Basically, the doctor said that it will take two whole years for Zoro to fully recover from the wound (from Mihawk).

Maybe this is the reason why Luffy set the new time for regrouping in Sabaody island to 2 years. Luffy is waiting for Zoro to fully recover :D

I know one can say that Zoro will heal faster (he has already big fight in Alabasta, Skypea, Enies Lobby) and got even more damage in Thriller Bark.

Anyway, this is just random stuff :D

Or, perhaps anyone knows why Luffy choose 2 years instead of 1 year or shorter time? We know Luffy is not the patient-guy. Perhaps it's because of Rayleigh.

Or because Reverie will take place in 2 years? But, I am sure Luffy doesn't care (or even know) about the Reverie.

Or perhaps he can meet Kinemon cs from the past? It's too perfect time :D

Why is there a 2 year timeskip in One Piece?

One Piece features a timeskip that lasts for two years. In these two years, all the members of the Straw Hat crew train to become stronger pirates. Despite the two years of training, all the members of the Straw Hat crew interact with each other just the way they used to prior to the timeskip.

What happens during the timeskip in One Piece?

During the timeskip, Silvers Rayleigh suggested the entire crew take two years off to train. In that period, Luffy accompanies Rayleigh and trains in Rusukaina, which is replete with dangerous monsters. Luffy polished his skills and learned to use the Haki under Rayleigh’s guidance.
