Why does my cat purr so loud Reddit

Hi everyone! I just adopted my first cat named Valentine today, she is 12 weeks old. She was a stray that was trapped and has been in a foster home since the start of August. I took her home today and started her just in the bathroom. It sounds dumb but she is ALWAYS purring, she sounds like a lawnmower! She is playing, eating, drinking, going to bathroom, coming to me for snuggles, and napping. I’m a bit worried because she was very shy at her foster home, would barely come out from under the couch. Valentine has warmed up to me very quickly and I’m just curious about her loud sounds! I’ve never heard a cat purr so much, all I have to do is look at her and she’ll rev up. I will put a video link in the comments if anyone is able to listen and tell me if she seems happy. Thank you :)

Does your cat have an odd purr? from cats

Usually when it wants to eat, it’ll purr really loud in the morning. Sometimes meow super loud, I’m a cat lover but I don’t wanna be woken up 5am in the morning. At the same time I don’t wanna give it attention since it’ll strengthen the habit. Help

I just got two rescue kittens yesterday, both around 8 weeks. One cat is kinda different. She doesn't purr ALL the time, it seems like she just purrs when she's around me or when someone sits down with her and pets her.

Like she's sitting here playing with my fingers as I type, I'm not paying any attention to her, but she's purring really loudly and will until she falls asleep or leaves. I don't think I've ever even heard a cat purr so loud lol. If she gets spooked by a noise or something she'll quit purring until she relaxes again. She doesn't seem to be in any distress or pain, and she'll lay with me totally comfortably and roll over on her back and purr right up until she falls asleep. And she seems to like me so far, she'll come running to me if I call for her, she stays where I am, and she does her best to sit and sleep RIGHT next to me or on me. Like she'll try to drape herself over my arm uncomfortably just to be laying on me. So has anyone had a cat that purrs so loudly and so frequently? Is it normal for them?

Is the constant purring normal? Just by touching her the slightest bit, she’ll purr. I got this little one today. First time cat owner here, so still learning a lot about their behaviours. Unrelated tips or advice are also welcomed in the comments! (: from cats

I today got this male cat as a gift from my sister. i brought him in my room for the night to get used to my smell but after some hours of him sleeping he suddenly woke up and started purring loudly. He also hasnt been castreted yet does that have anything to do wiith it. he is 12 weeks old

My cat always purrs this loudly whenever I pet her. I’m more intrigued to see if there is a particular reason she is so loud, or if it’s just normal. from cats
