Who do steelers play tonight

The Browns and Steelers will battle in Week 3 to stake a claim (temporarily) atop the AFC North. Each squad enters the game with a 1-1 record and each is coming off a loss against an AFC East opponent.

Cleveland's loss was a bit more disappointing than that of Pittsburgh, blowing a game in which they had a 99.9% chance of winning. The Browns held a 13-point lead over the Jets with under two minutes remaining in the contest, but they allowed Joe Flacco and Co. to come back and win it by a single point, 31-30.

As for the Steelers, their defense fared well despite losing T.J. Watt to a torn pectoral in Week 1 and held the Patriots to 17 points. However, the Mitch Trubsiky-led offense couldn't get much going against Bill Belichick's defense, so they ended up losing 17-14 in a tightly contested battle.

Both Pittsburgh and Cleveland have solid-to-strong running games headlined by Steelers' back Najee Harris and the Browns' tandem of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Whichever team runs the ball better should have the advantage in this matchup.

The Steelers and Browns are meeting for the sixth time since Kevin Stefnakski became the coach of the Browns. Mike Tomlin owns a slight edge in the coaching matchup at 3-2 overall, but Stefanski earned a playoff win over Pittsburgh during the 2021 postseason.

NFL schedule Week 3

The Steelers vs. Browns contest will be the first NFL Week 3 action of the 2022 season. It is expected to be a grind-it-out battle between two division rivals with strong defenses and questions at the quarterback position.

There will be two more prime-time games in Week 3 after Thursday night. The "Sunday Night Football" matchup between the 49ers and Broncos has the potential to be an interesting game. San Francisco lost Trey Lance to a broken ankle, so Jimmy Garoppolo will re-enter the starting lineup and hope to steady the ship.

As for Denver, they are off to an uninspired 1-1 start. First-time head coach Nathaniel Hackett has come under fire for his in-game management ability, and he will need to deliver a solid performance to quell concerns in Week 3.

The "Monday Night Football" game in Week 3 is another contest that features a team starting its backup quarterback. Cooper Rush and the Cowboys are fresh off a win and will be playing the surprising 2-0 Giants who have looked good during Brian Daboll's first season as head coach.

There will be plenty of other solid games to watch in Week 3, but the best of the bunch is the Packers vs. Buccaneers contest in the 4:25 p.m. ET window on Fox. It will be a battle between Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, but Brady will likely be without his top two receiving weapons — Mike Evans (suspension) and Chris Godwin (hamstring).

  • Snell didn't record any touches during the Steelers' 29-17 loss to the Browns on Thursday.

For a second consecutive week, Snell didn't play any offensive snaps and was limited to special-teams work. The 24-year-old hasn't yet recorded any touches this season and is unlikely to see much work behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren.

  • Boswell made one of two field-goal attempts while converting both of his extra-point tries during the Steelers' 29-17 loss to Cleveland on Thursday.

Boswell was perfect on two field-goal attempts last week, but he missed a 49-yard attempt wide right during the first quarter of Thursday's primetime matchup. Although the 31-year-old has made just six of eight field-goal attempts over the first three weeks of the season, he's had plenty of long-range work since the Steelers' offense hasn't been particularly efficient.

  • Warren rushed four times for 30 yards while securing his lone target for three yards during the Steelers' 29-17 loss to the Browns on Thursday.

Warren was on the field for just 12 offensive snaps during Thursday's matchup, but he recorded touches on nearly half of his snaps. The 23-year-old averaged 7.5 yards per carry in the loss but had a somewhat limited fantasy impact due to his lack of touches behind starter Najee Harris. Over his first three professional games, Warren has rushed 11 times for 52 yards while securing two of three targets for three yards.

  • Pickens secured three of seven targets for 39 yards during the Steelers' 29-17 loss to the Browns on Thursday.

Pickens totaled just five targets over the first two games of the regular season, but he drew more looks during Thursday's primetime matchup. Two of his receptions were within a few yards of the line of scrimmage, but he made an acrobatic 36-yard catch late in the first quarter that put the Steelers in the red zone. He was also called for an offside penalty on an onside kick late in the fourth quarter. The rookie second-rounder has had the team's longest reception in back-to-back weeks and has played 76 percent of the offensive snaps to begin the season, but his inconsistent target share has limited his fantasy output.
