What time does the niners play tomorrow

Next stop on the San Francisco 49ers’ playoff journey: the Frozen Tundra.

The 49ers escaped Jerry World with a chaotic 23-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the wild card round on Sunday. Deebo Samuel and Elijah Mitchell starred on offense, combining for 168 rushing yards and two touchdowns as the team built a 23-7 lead in the second half. Things went off the rails in the fourth quarter, though, as Jimmy Garoppolo threw an interception that breathed life back into the Cowboys. The game came to an abrupt end when the Dallas offense failed to spike the ball with time on the clock, after running a QB sneak up the middle of the field with no timeouts.

Kyle Shanahan’s squad is the lowest remaining seed in the NFC playoff picture after wild card weekend, securing the team a matchup against the top seed in the NFL, the Green Bay Packers.

Green Bay went a league-best 13-4 this season behind an MVP-caliber season from Aaron Rodgers. The team bounced back from a confounding season-opening loss to the New Orleans Saints and only lost three more games the rest of the way. One of those defeats came when Rodgers was out due to COVID-19 protocols, while another loss came in Week 18 after the team had already locked up the No. 1 seed.

The 49ers and Packers met up way back in Week 3 in an exciting Sunday Night Football showdown. Kyle Juszczyk scored a go-ahead touchdown that put San Francisco up 28-27 with 37 seconds left in the fourth quarter, but Rodgers engineered a quick drive in the final seconds to set up Mason Crosby’s 51-yard, game-winning field goal.

Along with the prior matchup this season, the two teams share recent playoff history. The 49ers dominated the 2019 NFC Championship Game over the Packers, earning a trip to Super Bowl LIV, with a 37-20 win. Garoppolo threw the ball just eight times in that victory as Raheem Mostert erupted for 220 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

This year, it’s the Packers with the top seed and home field. Can the 49ers pull off the upset and reach their second conference title game in three years? Here is all the info for how to watch this year’s divisional round contest:

Are the 49ers favorites against the Packers?

The 49ers are listed as six-point underdogs for their divisional round game against the Packers, according to our partner, PointsBet.

The Rams (14-5) will face the 49ers (12-7) in the 2021-22 NFC championship game at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The game will be televised by FOX.

Los Angeles, which defeated the Cardinals and Buccaneers in the wild-card and divisional rounds, respectively, is making its second NFC Championship appearance in the last four years. The Rams defeated the Saints in 2018 to advance to Super Bowl LIII, though they ultimately lost to the Patriots, 13-3.

Los Angeles won the NFC West for the third time in McVay’s five seasons and has had a stellar offensive season, led by quarterback Matthew Stafford, who was traded to the team for former quarterback Jared Goff in the offseason. Stafford ranked second in the NFL in passing touchdowns (41) during the regular season and has thrown for 568 passing yards and four touchdowns against zero interceptions in the postseason.

The 49ers are making their second NFC championship appearance in the last three seasons. San Francisco advanced to Super Bowl LIV in 2019, losing to the Chiefs, after beating the Packers in the conference championship.

The 49ers are arguably the hottest team in the NFL at this point, having won seven of their last nine regular-season games to qualify for the postseason. Their defense has allowed just 27 combined points in their two playoff contests, including 10 for the Packers and likely-MVP award winner Aaron Rodgers.

This will be the second postseason meeting between the Rams and 49ers in their history. San Francisco defeated Los Angeles in the 1990 NFC Championship Game, 30-3.

As members of the NFC West, the 49ers won both of the regular-season meetings between the teams this season. San Francisco has won six straight of these matchups dating back to 2019.
