What is the angle of elevation of the sun when the length of the shadow of a tree is √ 3times the height of the tree?

The height of a tree is √3 times the length of its shadow. Find the angle of elevation of the sun.

What is the angle of elevation of the sun when the length of the shadow of a tree is √ 3times the height of the tree?

Let the length of the shadow of the tree be x m.

∴  Height of the tree = `sqrt 3 ` x m

if Ø is the angle of elevation of the sun , then

` tan   Ø  = (sqrt3  xx)/xx=sqrt 3= tan 60 °`

`∴ Ø = 60 °`
