Use apple cash for in app purchases

Learn what you need to set up and use Apple Cash for members of your Family Sharing group that are under 18 years old.

You can set up Apple Cash for the children and teens in your Family Sharing group so they can make purchases, and send and receive money in Messages or Wallet. You can even limit who your child can send money to, get notified when they make transactions, and lock their account.

  1. On the family organizer's iPhone, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap [your name], then tap Family Sharing.
  3. Tap the child or teen that you want to set up Apple Cash for.
  4. Tap Apple Cash, then follow the instructions on your screen to set up their account. You might need to verify your identity. If you see Pending, make sure that your child meets the requirements.

After you complete these steps, you can view and manage the Apple Cash accounts of your children and teens.

If your family organizer set up Apple Cash for you, you can use it to make purchases in participating stores, apps, and websites.

You can also use Apple Cash to send and receive money with people you know. If you're less than 13 years old, you can't add a card to Wallet to use with Apple Cash.

Question: Q:

When I make in-app purchases it all goes on my mom's debit card, even if I don't have and never had her card in my Apple Pay. When I using apple cash or just buying apps from apple store, it takes money from my Apple Pay primary card. From the picture below you can see, that's in-app purchase, and when I choose something to pay, it doesn't use my debit card, and doesn't give me an option to use my Apple Cash card, or my debit card.

Hi,

This is using App Store billing with Apple Pay. As such, you can't change your payment method for each purchase (unless you change your priority billing method every time.) For App Store payments, including in-app purchases, it bills whichever payment method is prioritized. You can change this by doing the following steps:

  1. Opening App Store
  2. Tapping your Apple ID picture at the top right
  3. Tapping your name
  4. Tapping Manage Payments
  5. Tapping Edit
  6. and then moving your preferred payment methods to the top

Hope this helps!
