Deal Link: https://www.lowes.ca/outdoor/garden-cen ... iterm=soil Price: 1.99 Savings: $1.50 Expiry: September 28, 2016 Retailer: Lowes Lowes must be overstocked out West on soil - top soil and black earth - as they are having one of their "Special Value" sales (which typically means an inventory dump) of their lower end soil product. Both Premier and Sta Green Top Soil are on sale for a low price of $1.99 a bag (Premier bags are 25L while Sta Green bags are 28.3L). For those out East, this price isn't cheap but for us in the West, it's almost as cheapest it gets! Currently, the sale ends tomorrow (only found out today!) so time is short. All stores in BC seems to have stock of various items (ie. some stores might be out of stock of one product but has plenty of the other 3 products).
So, if you have a few holes to fill in your yard before Winter sets in, now is a good time!
Perfect, thanks OP! Ordered the Sta Green and Premier top soil, for the garden beds and lawn, respectively. Too bad no free shipping.
Was always wondering what the difference between top soil and black earth was: Am wondering this as well. Was planning on using this as a base to grow grass. Any advice RFD crew? You want topsoil...Only use black earth as a fill. It has no nutrients and is terrible for planting. Top soil is better according to the short article.
perfect timing thanks op. also bonus points for saying "dirt cheap" you so pun-ny
As per the flyer the Premier Top Soil also has a 5 Airmiles bonus PER BAG. I bought 4 bags this past weekend and 20 Airmiles showed up in my account yesterday. I Declare - The official guide to your Customs exemptions and item restrictions when returning to Canada from abroad.
Is added fertilizer the only difference between Sta-Green Top soil $1.99 and Sta-Green Enriched Lawn Soil $3.99 ? I want to use with over-seeding and bare spots. Thanks
Don't forget LCA1050 for $10 off $50 for those buying a bunch. Read that it's best to do guest checkout to avail of the coupon multiple times. Last edited by alanbrenton on Sep 28th, 2016 10:38 am, edited 1 time in total.
Is it really better to? What kind of sand will be required? Mix them together. Mix them together at a ration of 2 parts topsoil, 2 parts sand, and 1 part compost. http://www.wikihow.com/Level-a-Bumpy-Lawn
The top soil contains fertilizer too according to the product details. Says it's good for the first three months.
would it be better buy now and store them or pick them up next year??
Can I buy now and overseed in spring ?
Can I buy now and overseed in spring ?
Thanks OP. Bought 45 bags of Black Earth and 15 of Top Soil. Both have fertilizer added. Need to flatten out the lawn. Chris
Thanks. Bought 26 so I could use the $10 off.
I needed to get a cubic yard of top soil - this works out much cheaper than getting a bag delivered.
Depends on how lucky you are... traditionally, top soil does go on sale but the sales are pretty small with a 50 cents to $1 reduction per bag when on sale. Once a season, you'll see the price drop to this level at all major retailers but you have to catch it. This year, the season has been good with a low of $1.89 per bag or $3.48 per double sized bag at Rona as well as the various triple mix sales. But in previous years, the 50 cents to a $1 reduction is the normal. I would buy now so that I won't have to try to time it when I need it - ie. there's no guarantee of when you will need it and when the price will be this low will ever match up. |
