The difference in the measures of two complementary angles is find the measures of the angles

  • Two angels are said to be complementary when their sum is 90°

    Let one angle be x

    then other will be (x -12°)

    According to question.

          x + (x - 12°) = 90°   ( complementary angles)

    => 2x - 12°= 90°

    => 2x = 90° + 12°

    => 2x = 102°

    => x = 102°/2

    => x = 51°

    and (x - 12°) = 51° - 12° = 39°

    So, the angles are 39° and 51°

Let one of the angles be x.

Two complementary angles differ by = 12.

Bigger angle = (x + 12).

Complementary angles = 90.

x + x + 12 = 90

2x + 12 = 90

2x = (90 – 12)

2x = 78

x = 78 / 2

x = 39 = smallest angle

(x + 12) = 39 + 12 = 51 = biggest angle

The angles are 39, 51 degrees respectively.

The difference in the measures of two complementary angles is 12∘ . find the measures of the angles?

Solution

Two angels are said to be complementary when their sum is 90° Let one angle be x then other will be (x -12°) A/q, x + ( x-12°) = 90° ( complementary angles) ⇒ 2x - 12°= 90° ⇒2x = 90° + 12° ⇒2x = 102 ⇒x = 51° and (x-12 ) = 51 - 12 = 39° ∴ angles are 39° and 51°

The difference in the measures of two complementary angles is 12. Find the measures of the angles?

Let the two angles be x and yGiven, x-y=12We know that the sum of complementary angles is 90Therefore, x+y=90so, x=90-ySubstitute x in x-y=12Therefore, 90-y-y = 12 90-2y = 12 -2y = 12 - 90 -2y = -78 y = -78/-2 y = 39Substitute y in x - y = 12 x - 39 = 12 x = 12+39 x = 51Therefore, the two angles are 51 degree and 39 degree.
