Follow these simple steps to Ban or Unban a player on your Minecraft Server using the console.

First, login to the SMpicnic Control Panel and navigate to the server manager page.
Click the Console tab.
To ban a player enter the command ban USERNAME or to unban a player enter the command pardon USERNAME. Replace USERNAME with the actual player name. For example, if Notch comes onto your server and starts causing trouble, you can type ban Notch ;)

Unbanning or Banning a player using SMpicnic.

First, login to the SMpicnic Control Panel and navigate to the server manager page.
Click on Manage next to the player's name.
Click on Ban to Ban a player or Unban to Unban a player.

Banning functionality is built into every Minecraft server out of the box, allowing you to prevent unwanted players from connecting to and playing on your server. Of course, you can also pardon, or unban, a player that you have previously banned if you would like them to be able to play on your server again.

Important Reminders:

The commands mentioned in this tutorial are available in Minecraft Java Edition only.

To use these commands via your server's console, simply remove the / symbol before the command.

BANNING A PLAYER OR IP

There are a couple of different commands you can use to ban a player from your server.

COMMAND	DESCRIPTION
/ban <username> [reason] Example: /ban Steve griefing	This command bans a player by their Minecraft username, preventing them from using their account to connect to your server. Providing a reason is optional.
/ban-ip <IP\|username> [reason]Example: /ban-ip 172.0.0.1 or /ban-ip Steve hacking	This command bans a player by their IP, preventing anyone from connecting to your server that tries to log in from the same IP address. You can use the username of an online player to ban the IP they're using. Providing a reason is optional.

UNBANNING A PLAYER OR IP

Unbanning a player works in a similar manner. The following commands can be used to unban a player from your server.

/pardon <username>

Example: /pardon Steve

This command unbans a player that has previously been banned from your server.

/pardon-ip <IP Address>

Example: /pardon-ip 172.0.0.1

This command unbans an IP address that you've previously banned. Note that only valid IP addresses work with this command, not player names.

VIEWING BANNED PLAYERS OR IP ADDRESSES

Listing all bans works in a similar way. The following commands can be used to view all active bans on your server.

/banlist players	This command displays all Minecraft username of players banned from your server.

How to Enter the Command

1. Open the Chat Window

The easiest way to run a command in Minecraft is within the chat window. The game control to open the chat window depends on the version of Minecraft:

For Java Edition (PC/Mac), press the T key to open the chat window.
For Education Edition, press the T key to open the chat window.

2. Type the Command

In this example, we will forcibly disconnect the player called DigMinecraft from the multiplayer world with the following command:

/kick TheNotWanted Hacking

Type the command in the chat window. As you are typing, you will see the command appear in the lower left corner of the game window. Press the Enter key to run the command.

Once the cheat has been entered, the player named TheNotWanted will be forcibly disconnected from the multiplayer world. The reason displayed will be "Hacking".

JE: <targets>: entity
BE: name: target: CommandSelector<Player>

Specifies the player(s) to be kicked. Must be a player name, a target selector or a UUID‌[Java Edition only]. And the target selector must‌[JE only]/should‌[BE only] be of player type. In Bedrock Edition, it can also be an XUID (Xbox UID) of a player.

Message to display to the kicked player. In Java Edition, if unspecified, defaults to Kicked by an operator. Must be a plain text. Can include spaces as well as target selectors. The game replaces entity selectors in the message with the list of selected entities' names, which is formatted as "name1 and name2" for two entities, or "name1, name2, ... and namen" for n entities. In Bedrock Edition, @here can be used to mention all players.
