I'm helping a friend remove another player from her town but there's no other profile to log into and remove them. Is there a way to remove this player's house without that persons profile on the switch? Am I able to do it from my friends character who owns the game/island?

It's a fairly complicated process, as is deleting another player from your island, which is why we've put together this step by step guide on deleting save data in Animal Crossing New Horizons. How to Delete Your Own Save Data

To delete your own save data, you must delete all of the data from the game. This is relevant if you are the main resident on the island. To do so, follow these steps:

Go to the HOME Menu on your Nintendo Switch
Select 'Data Management'
Select 'Delete Save Data'
Select Animal Crossing from the dropdown menu
Choose 'Delete All Save Data for This Software'

When you start the game again, you will be starting from scratch. This means from the very start of the experience, before you even chose your name and birthday (more on changing those here)

How to Delete Another Player's Save Data

To delete the save data for another player living on your island (i.e, anyone who did not set up the island), you need to do the following:

Head to main menu
Press '-'
Speak to Tom Nook
Delete Resident Registration
Select the resident you'd like to delete

Note that only the island leader can delete players from their island. If you delete them, their character, house, money (more on making that here) and Miles will be gone. They'll also be wiped from the memories of other residents.

To delete your island in Animal Crossing New Horizons you'll need to follow the same steps as deleting your own data. Deleting all data for the game is the only way to get rid of an island and start again.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a great game to share with your friends and family, but sometimes a player in person will pitch a tent in a boring place and never play again. Getting rid of their tent or house involves removing their data. Here's how to do it.

Sometimes other players place their tents in inconvenient places. For example, you might like to have the scenery around your house improved, but another player's home position is in the way.

If the player plans to continue playing on your island, it is possible later in the game (once certain milestones are reached) that the player with the misplaced house pays a large sum of bells to resident services to move their house. to another location.

But if the offending player does not plan to replay the game, it is best to consider deleting their data (what the game calls "deleting residents' registration"). This will remove the problematic resident's house.

How to withdraw a residence from Animal Crossing by deleting a player's data

Before deleting, it is always best to ask the other player if they are okay with deleting their account. If they say "yes" or if they don't intend to play again, then you are good to go.

Step N ° 1 : Launch the game as the player you want to remove from the game. Make sure you choose the correct account, otherwise you might accidentally delete the wrong player by mistake.

Step N ° 2 : When you get to the title screen, press the "-" (minus) button on the left Joy-Con to enter the Settings menu.

Step N ° 6 : If you're ok with the risks, Nook will confirm you want to continue. Select “Delete Resident Registration” a second time.

You will see a final warning / confirmation screen. Select the “Delete” option.

The game will confirm that the player's data has been deleted.

Now you can press the physical home button on the right Joy-Con, select the Animal Crossing icon, bring players back to your main account, and the offending tent or house should disappear from the game.

Getting rid of an extra character or starting anew in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is fairly simple.

Open the game on the Nintendo Switch profile that has the character you want to remove, and press the Minus button while you’re on the title screen. This will bring up Tom Nook in an ominous dark room, asking if you really want to delete your character.

Deleting your character will erase all traces of them off the island. Villagers won’t talk about them, and their house (or tent) will be completely removed. We advise you to drop any items or Bells you might need before deleting the character.

If your family member or friend plays ACNH on your Nintendo Switch, they can join your village. When you start the game, you’ll choose a location to place your tent; this is the same when family and friends play too.

If a player continues to play on your island, it’s possible to remove their house later in the game. You’ll need to reach certain milestones before this can occur. It costs 50,000 bells to move a residence which is inconvenient, and an expense.

Once you establish that the player never wants to play again, it’s actually easier to remove their player data entirely which will delete their player character and remove their tent (or house).

The Solution

Before deleting a player’s data, it’s best to check that this is okay with them. You won’t want a disgruntled sibling on your hands!

Here’s how to easily remove a player’s tent from your Animal Crossing game:

Launch Animal Crossing New Horizons
Start the game as the player you want to remove
On the title screen, press the “-” (minus) button on your Switch
Tom Nook will warn you about changing advanced settings
Select “Save Data Settings”
Choose “Delete Resident Registration”
Tom Nook will explain the details, then select “Delete Resident Registration” again
Select “Delete It” (Tom really likes to make sure you’re happy to proceed)

That’s it! You’re all set. You can press the Home button on your Switch and select Animal Crossing New Horizons to play the game on your main account. The player’s tent or residence will now be removed from your island.

How to Remove a Player’s Tent After Deleting the User From Your Switch

The above steps are really helpful when the player in question still has a user account on your Nintendo Switch. But what happens if you’ve already deleted the user? How do you log in with a user that is no longer there?

If you want to delete a player from Animal Crossing that’s no longer on your Switch, there is a solution.

Ask a friend or family member to add their user account to your Nintendo Switch.
Launch Animal Crossing: New Horizons with their user account.
When asked whether the user wants to play Animal Crossing as a new user or an existing user, select existing user.
Select the villager that the previously deleted user account was using.
