Solution

Let the Price of the article before including GST be x

Price of article including GST =Rs. 1239

GST(Goods and Service Tax) =18% of x=(18×x)100 =0.18×x

∴ Price of article including GST= Price before GST + GST

⇒x+(0.18x)=1239

⇒1.18x=1239

∴x=12391.18=Rs. 1050

So, the price of article before GST was added =Rs. 1050
