Why does my sim stop doing an action

By controlling the characters in The Sims 4 we must perform various activities so that they can meet their needs. The only drawback that can stop you from doing all these actions is a simple error.

Are you wondering why your sim won’t move or do anything? Some players have experienced this annoying problem too. It is an error that paralyzes the characters when you give them orders, and they can last a long time doing nothing. The source hasn’t been found yet, but there are a few ways to fix it, so we’ll leave you all the information to get rid of this big problem.

First solution – Travel somewhere else

Because your Sim is paralyzed, it doesn’t have the ability to take action. However, there are other things to do, and one of these it’s to travel somewhere else. When you get somewhere else, your character somehow reacts again and you can regain control. It should be noted that you must do so directly by zooming away until the “Scroll” option appears because if you do it from the phone it will not work.

Second solution – Reset the character

Mistakes can arise in many ways, and one of the ways to get rid of them is by resetting the characters. To do this you have to open the command console:

  • PC: Control + Shift + C
  • PS4: L1 + L2 + R1 + R2
  • Xbox One: LB + LT + RB + RT

Then type and activate the following command: resetSim Name (Last Name)

For example, if your Sim is called John Smith, you must type “resetSim John Smith”. Doing so will not affect your Sim in any way, it will only eliminate any inconveniences you have in the game.

Third solution – Teleport

Something prevents the character from moving, it can be many things, a misplaced, damaged object or other factors. If you manage to get him out of the place where he’s standing, you can possibly fix it. To do this, you have to activate the “testingcheats true”. To do so, hold Shift and click on the place where you want to teleport the character. By doing this you get the “Teleport Here” option. Then you have to select it for the character to magically move.

These are all the ways to fix the error that bothers you so much and prevents your in-game activities. Another trick that can help you is to modify the needs and change the emotions in The Sims 4.

So one of my sims is trying to teach a toddler how to talk, and the toddler learned completely but won't stop talking. I've tried to cancel the action and even added a new one for both sims, but they won't move. All that happens is the toddler keeps talking while the adult sits on the floor watching. What do I do??

I'm trying to get this one sim of mine to write a book as part of her freelance writing gig.

However, part way through the action, she keeps canceling the action and attempting to read another book.

I have no mods installed.

Any advice on how to stop this issue?

EDIT: Turning off Sim Autonomy (there was only “Full” and “Off” available in the options menu) fixed the issue, even if I do kind of miss it.
