What is the best texture pack for Minecraft?

Minecraft texture packs change the whole look of your game – from blocks to items. They can fill your game with realism or turn your world into a retro video game. Now known as resource packs, they can easily be installed and deactivated anytime in-game. It’s the easiest way to change the game’s visuals to an aesthetic you’ll love.

While texture packs don’t change the core aspects of the game, such as its blocky complexion, they make a huge difference. They can introduce sharp new graphics while some can turn Minecraft into a realistic world. Others turn Minecraft into something out of a retro-gaming console. Either way, there’s something out there for you.

With Minecraft 1.19 released, you can expect resource pack creators to release updates. These updates will include new textures for Mangrove wood, frogs, mud and more! We can’t wait to see what some creators come up with for the Deep Dark!

The resource packs in this article are all for the Minecraft Java Edition. Unfortunately, bedrock doesn’t work the same way Java does, and you’ll have to choose a texture through the catalogue.

How to install Minecraft texture packs

If you like a Minecraft texture pack on our list, follow the link to download the file. It’ll download as a .zip file. However, you won’t need to extract the file, so you can leave it as is.

Next, launch your Minecraft game. Select ‘Options’ and then ‘Resource Packs’ on your homepage. Like we said above, ‘resource packs’ is just a new name; there’s no difference between the two.

Next, open the resource packs folder. A window will pop up, and you’ll need to drag the .zip file into this folder. Click done, and it’ll return you to a screen with two columns. All active resource packs will be on the right, while available ones will be on the left.

Lastly, click the little arrow that appears over the texture pack icon in the left column. You’ll see the pack switch over to the right. When you click done, the red Mojang loading screen will pop up. After, you’ll be able to experience your Minecraft worlds in a whole new texture.
