Call the first number x. Then, the second number is 2x. If you take the product of those, then you get x*2x = 2x2 = 128 as given in the problem. Then solve: divide both sides by 2, and get x2 = 64. So, x = 8. Then, 2x = 16. So the answers are 8 and 16.
