Question 3 Exercise 17(B)

Next

A train 180 m long passes a tree in 12 sec how long will it take to cover a platform 150 m long

Answer:

Solution 3:

Distance covered= 120m + 160m = 280m

Time taken= 14 seconds

Speed= \frac{Dis\tan ce}{Time}=\frac{280}{14}

=20m/s

In second case, distance

= 120+ 100= 220m

Time taken+ \frac{220}{20}\sec=11\sec

Video transcript

hello friends so i'm here today in the little homework session with yet another maths question and in today's math question uh we are going to be doing true or false and that also for exponentials so we i am having here few exponential questions and we are going to solve it out and we are going to find out whether the question is true or false so if it is true yeah if it is false we are going to justify our answers so why we have chosen that option we are going to justify our answers to it so let's begin the first one is 10 into 10 raised to 11 would give me 100 raised to 11. so this is my first question i have to prove that my lhs is equal to my rhs now i am considering here my lhs first my lhs is 10 into 10 raised to 11 right so this is in which form yes so this is in our exponential low form of a raised to m into a raised to n would give me a raise to m plus n right so similarly i can write here now 10 raised to 11 plus 1 that is equal to 10 raised to 12. now this is my lhs but my rhs says my rhs says my rhs says it is 100 is to 100 raised to 11. so we have got already our lhs answer and our lhs now here is not equal to my rhs so i can say that my nhs not equal to my arches right so thereby i can conclude what is the given statement true or false yes so i can say that the given equation is false so see i have proved my first question and the first question says that it is a false equation now let's do our second one my second question is 2 raised to 3 is greater than 5 raised to 2. so let's take our lhs and our rhs and then we will find out right so i'm taking my lhs and my lhs says that 2q that is equal to 2 into 2 into 2 that is also equal to 8 right now let's take our rhs rhs equal to 5 square and that is equal to 5 into 5 and that is 25 yes so now we have got our lhs and we have got our rhs so from this we can say that our lhs is not greater than rhs right but our lhs is lesser than our rhs so i have proved that given equation the given equation is false and how we have come to with this conclusion because as you can see here 8 is my rhl lhs and 25 is my rhs so 8 will be always lesser than 25 and that's how we have come to the conclusion of the given statement being false right yes so that's how i've come to my conclusion that the given statement is false now let's do our third question so let's do our third question okay so my third question is 2 raised to 3 into 3 raised to 2 is equal to 6 raised to 5 so now we have here 2 raised to 3 into 3 raised to 2 and you have to prove if our lhs is equal to our rhs now let's take as usual our l hs so my lhs is 2 raised to 3 into 3 raised to 2 and how much will we get here so let's see so that will become 2 into 2 into 2 into 3 into 3 that is 72 so our lhs is 72. now let's see our arches now let's check our rhs our rhs as 6 raised to 5 and that is 6 into 6 into 6 into 6 into 6 and the total is 7 76 if you see here my lhs is 72 and my rhs is 770 sorry 7776 so from this we can conclude that our lhs is not equal to rhs so i can say that the given equation is false right because y false because my lhs is 72 but my rhs is 7776 so thereby i came to the conclusion that the equation is false now let's do our final one that is the fourth one so my fourth question says three raised to zero equal to thousand raised to zero now this is in which form can anyone tell me which exponent form is this yes we do have an exponent form of saying a raise to 0 is equal to 1 so any number raised to 0 you would get you have to get the value equal to as 1. so similarly if i take here my lhs that is 3 raised to 0 so here 3 is our a and a raised to 0 is 1 so similarly 3 raised to 0 is equal to 1 and rhs that is thousand raised to zero now again thousand raised to zero is similar as a raise to zero so i would get my answer as one now here if you see i can definitely say that my lhs equal to rhs why because my lhs is 1 and my rhs is also equal to 1 and because of that i can see my lh is equal to rhs and i can also conclude that the given equation equation is true and why true because i have proved my lhs is equal to my rhs so friends see with very few steps with the help of laws of exponents i have completed my question so i hope you have all liked it if you have any doubts or any comments please comment below and if you have liked this video give it a big thumbs up and also please subscribe to this channel for further videos till then thank you

Since the length of the tree is negligible, so distance in first case is taken as the length of the train.

Speed = Distance / Time = 120/5

= 24 m/s

Now ,

Distance = ( 120 + 180 ) = 300 m
Speed = 24 m/s

Time = Distance / Speed = 300 / 24= 25/2

= 12.5 seconds
